Filter combines .75lbs. of KDF-55 media, a compound of Copper and Zinc, and GAC (Granulated Activated Carbon) and works especially well on Chlorine taste and odors, while adding all the reduction-oxidation benefits of the KDF compound. The water filter cartridge utilizes KDF filtration media, GAC (granular activated carbon) and 3 stages of polypropylene sediment filtration. KDF Process Media are high-purity, granulated copper and zinc-based alloys that filter water through a process based upon the principle of redox (Oxidation-Reduction). Originally, KDF was shorthand for Kinetic Degradation Fluxion. We can explain redox like this: KDF Fluid Treatment's unique combination of copper and zinc creates an electro-chemical reaction. During this reaction, electrons are transferred between molecules, and new compounds are created. The GAC media helps to further reduce chlorine taste and odors.
