 As pure hepa filters go, this one is one of the best Nov 11, 2010

As any unit it has strengths and weaknesses.
After owning a IQAIR H13 for a few years, I feel qualified to report back.
Also, while having no test equipment or medical degree-I have used many types of air cleaners, and consider myself
somewhat informed and very comfortable talking about them.
I also should note that I don't like multi-technology units, and prefer my air cleaners to specialize, no air cleaner that tries to do everything will do everything well.
Strengths.
As far as a pure hepa unit goes, this one is great. This unit WILL make a difference in the way the air FEELS. It removes particles, and that's all it does, but it does it so well, that's all it needs to do to make a major impact on the air you breathe. There are many different 'HEPA' air cleaners competing in a congested market, but I've never seen a 'hepa only' filter change the air the way this one does. It feels almost like you're breathing mountain air. It feels crisp. It's not a perfume, chemical or treatment. The air is just made clean by removing the particles. ALL of them.
The remote is usable, and the unit looks very serious and intimidating, not like a toy or a gadget.
The machine housing does not leak. It's designed rather well to do what it does.
Weaknesses.
It's expensive. It had to be said.
It's loud, big, hard to hide, doesn't feel like it's moving much air, and the filter change indicators seem to run much faster than the 'service life' estimates of years-because they assume you won't run it on 100% speed 24/7 for any length of time.
But even on top speed it moves 250 CFM, on a good day. Forget about sleeping next to it on high.
Replacement filters are somewhat expensive, but don't need changing that often. They change with no tools.
Attachments like the outflow kit (For instance.) are astronomically priced.
After you buy an IQair H13, you'll understand why those tabletop or pedestal units are all jokes.
Those units try to prove they work by designing their filters to show dust, or moving a lot of dirty air around.
The point is not to dirty the filter, or circulate the air, but to remove the bad stuff in the air.
The pre-filter in this unit alone is more effective than a tabletop or pedestal unit.
The main filter is about 1/3 the size of a 2000 cfm abatement filter, but about 2x the size of a normal hepa filter.
This unit is what I'd consider as the best hepa-only portable air cleaner that you can buy right now-price no object.
Abatement units move much more air, but aren't what I consider portable, as they have multiple horsepower motors.
If you have owned 5 air purifiers in your lifetime, research this one.
If you currently own 5 air purifiers, and aren't happy with them, buy this one. I bet if you do, you will get rid of at least 3 of them within a month.

I HAD AN ASTHMA ATTACK AND ALMOST DIED. THE AIR CLEANER WAS PURCHASED TO STOP ALL THE TRIGGERS IN THE HOUSE (CONDO). WORKED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND ALTHOUGH EXPENSIVE - YOU CAN'T BEAT IT.
